King George's Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow is currently led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Soniya Nityanand. Appointed in August 2023, she is the second woman to hold this prestigious position at the university.
Prof. Nityanand is renowned for her significant contributions to medical research, particularly in the areas of stem cell transplantation and haematological disorders. Her pioneering work has been recognized at the national level, earning her the Padma Shri award in 2025. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded her as a " priceless asset to medicine," highlighting her outstanding research and its impact on the medical field.

The Anatomical Society
The Anatomical Society of King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, comprises all first-year MBBS and BDS students, who are enrolled as members. The society aims to offer a platform for students to explore and enhance their abilities across academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular domains through a variety of activities. Additionally, the society, in coordination with the university administration, facilitates the preservation of cadavers and the procurement of skeletal materials for educational purposes.
